Why invest in Food Safety Supervisor training now?
The New Standard
Food Safety Supervisor training is quickly becoming one of the most popular food safety training courses offered in Australia. Following the implementation of Standard 3.2.2a Food Safety Management Tools on December 8th, 2023, all food businesses across Australia will require a fully trained Food Safety Supervisor on site.
This national Standard speceifis what Food Safety Supervisors and Food Handlers working in category 1 and category 2 food businesses in Australia must do to comply.
Meet the Training Deadline
As the deadline approaches it is obvious why completing Food Safety Supervisor training sooner rather than later is beneficial for businesses.
To ensure compliance when the new standard is introduced, Food Safety Supervisors must be fully qualified and trained by an RTO, and their nomination for this role must be reported to the local council either by them or their employer. The sooner training is completed, the more time businesses have to deal with any unforeseen challenges that may arise during the process of establishing a Food Safety Supervisor.
In putting mandatory training off until the last minute, you run the risk of incurring fines or other state specific penalties that could hurt your business. Getting organised early will give you assurance that you are compliant and covered for the next 5 years. After this Food Safety Supervisors will be given a grace period of 90 days to renew their qualification and comply.
This elevated baseline for training means that businesses must now do more to build their reputation as trusted providers committed to food safety – this starts with accredited training!
Career Advancement
The new Standard also presents an exciting opportunity for those looking to advance their careers in the food industry.
Food Safety Supervisor training provides a valuable qualification and serves as concrete evidence of a comprehensive understanding of food safety processes and regulatory compliance. It also demonstrates the ability to observe, teach and uphold these standards among your colleagues.
Those who complete this training are more likely to be considered for managerial positions, offering an excellent pathway for career advancement within the food industry.
